Information for Parents

Dear Parents!

In the next few days, we will be conducting a sociometric survey in the class which will consist of a short digital questionnaire. Children will have to answer questions about their friendships and roles within the class.

Sociometry maps the children's social network. The results can help the school psychologist and the class teacher to understand the structure of the class better and to improve the social life within the class. Pupils are not given any feedback on the choices of others, according to the regular etiquette for sociometric surveys. Data can be analysed by the class teacher with the help of the school psychologist.

The data obtained may be used for research purposes by the developers of the sociometric program in an anonymous way in compliance with the GDPR. Their analysis only covers the various class averages and aggregated indicators and does not directly examine the relationships between children in any way. It is not possible to infer individual data from these indicators, moreover, because of the additional data protection solutions that are built into the program, the names of the children are not visible to the researchers, nor can the city, school or class where the data has been collected be identified in any way from the answers.

Participation is not compulsory, however the survey is much more accurate and more informative if all members of the class are involved. If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, please let the class teacher know.

If you have any further questions about the sociometric survey, please feel free to contact the class teacher or the school psychologist. If you would like to gain more information about research ethics, please visit http://eszocmet.hu/frequently-asked-questions or read the eSzocMet GDPR policy. If you have any further questions regarding this topic, please contact Tamás Hoffmann, psychologist, one of the site developers via hofical@gmail.com email address.
